The Capture the Good Challenge has entered its public voting stage, giving fans the opportunity to decide which stories deserve to take the spotlight.
It began with an invitation to content creators across Kenya to use photography and videography to capture stories of positive change within their communities.
Now, after months of discovering, refining and celebrating these stories, the public gets to have its say.
More than 6,000 creators answered the call
The challenge, launched by Safaricom and M-PESA Foundation, attracted more than 6,000 photographers and videographers from across Kenya.
Professional creatives and hobbyists alike submitted stories capturing moments of transformation, resilience and community impact.
The stories explored real-life experiences across areas such as education, healthcare, economic empowerment and environmental conservation, bringing everyday acts of change into focus.
Participants could submit work captured using either professional cameras or smartphones, with the challenge placing emphasis on authenticity, creativity and community-centred storytelling.
Following a rigorous judging process, the field was narrowed down to the Top 90 finalists.

Sharpening the stories
Making it into the Top 90 was only one part of the journey.
The finalists were given the opportunity to participate in an exclusive Capture the Good Masterclass, where they learned directly from industry experts and engaged one-on-one with members of the judging panel.
Sessions went beyond simply taking a great photograph or recording a compelling video.
The creators explored the finer details of their craft, gaining practical insights into strengthening their storytelling, improving their photography and videography, and making every frame count.
Beyond the formal sessions, the Masterclass also gave the finalists an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and build a community of storytellers united by a shared passion for creating impact.
Armed with these new insights, the finalists refined their projects and resubmitted their work for further evaluation.

Now, the public decides
The refined entries were subsequently evaluated by the panel of judges, bringing the competition to its public voting stage.
In addition, the shortlisted stories reflect the many ways positive change is taking place across Kenya.
They range from classrooms where new ideas are taking root to communities reached despite geographical barriers, as well as initiatives restoring dignity to people and places often overlooked.
Together, the stories demonstrate one powerful idea: good deserves to be seen, felt and told.
Now, the decision moves beyond the judges. The public vote will determine which finalists make it to the Top 3.
How to vote for your favourite finalist
Ready to have your say? Voting is open until 30 August 2026.
There are two ways to vote:
- Visit https://capturethegood.safaricom.co.ke/voting to view the shortlisted submissions and cast your vote for your favourite finalist.

The journey is nearing the finish line, but the impact continues
The Capture the Good Challenge has already celebrated creators whose work demonstrates the power of visual storytelling to shine a light on positive change.
At the regional stage, the top three creators in each category and region were recognised with Bronze winners receiving KES 50,000, Silver winners KES 75,000 and Gold winners KES 100,000.
Beyond the regional prizes, the people’s choice award will be determined separately for the photography and videography categories.
The top three photographers and videographers of the year will receive KES 1 million, KES 750,000 and KES 500,000, respectively, alongside gift hampers.
More importantly, the challenge has created something bigger: a platform for Kenyan creators to tell authentic stories of people, communities and transformation.
The stories have been captured. The finalists have been chosen. Now, the choice is yours.
