The fourth leg of the PGK Equator Tour is underway at Nyali Golf Club, where more than 50 of Kenya’s top professional golfers have assembled for four days of high-stakes competition.
Running from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, the tournament offers players a crucial opportunity to earn valuable ranking points in the race to qualify for the 2027 Magical Kenya Open and the 2028 Olympic Games.
At the same time, it highlights the PGK Equator Tour’s mission of strengthening Kenya’s professional golf circuit by providing consistent, elite-level competition and a clear pathway for local players to progress onto the international stage.
The Nyali leg marks the PGK Equator Tour’s first visit to the historic coastal club since the circuit’s inception.
Title Contenders Set for Coastal Challenge
Safaricom-backed Samuel Njoroge, who currently leads the standings with 2,017 points, heads into the tournament in excellent form and will be looking to extend his advantage at the top.
However, veteran golfer Dismas Indiza of Kakamega, who won the third leg at Limuru Country Club and sits second on the standings with 1,890 points, is expected to provide strong competition.
Fellow Safaricom-backed professional Mohit Mediratta, currently third with 1,580 points, will also be aiming to close the gap, setting the stage for a highly competitive contest in Nyali.
Meanwhile, the par-71 coastal course is set to provide a distinctly different challenge from the inland venues that hosted the opening three legs of the circuit, testing players with its unique conditions and playing environment.

Home Favourite Eyes Strong Performance
Home favourite Matthew Wahome will also be among the players to watch as he returns to familiar territory.
Wahome heads into the tournament with renewed confidence after producing one of his strongest performances of the season at the previous leg in Limuru.
He will now be aiming to build on that momentum, using his knowledge of the course to mount a strong challenge for the title.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Wahome said his improved form had boosted his confidence, even as he acknowledged the expectations that come with competing on home soil.
“I am pleased with how I performed at Limuru, especially after a challenging start to the season. That result has given me a lot of confidence as I head into Nyali, my home course. Competing at home comes with high expectations and added pressure, but I am optimistic about putting in a strong performance. I am looking to build on the momentum from the last leg and deliver an even better result this week,” said Matthew Wahome.Â
Nyali Welcomes PGK Equator Tour for the First Time
This week’s tournament marks the PGK Equator Tour’s maiden visit to Nyali Golf Club, adding another chapter to the circuit’s growing footprint across the country.
So far, the second edition of the tour has made stops at VetLab Sports Club, Thika Sports Club and Limuru Country Club, with eight more legs still to be played before the season concludes.
Meanwhile, the circuit continues to enjoy strong corporate backing from partners including Safaricom PLC, Betika, Britam, Kenya Airways and NCBA, among others, as it seeks to provide Kenyan professionals with regular, high-quality competition and a pathway to international events.
