PGK Equator Tour heads to Ruiru Golf Club this week for its fifth leg happening from Thursday 16 July to Sunday, 19 July.
Kenya’s top professional golfers continue to compete for crucial ranking points in the race to qualify for the 2027 Magical Kenya Open and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The four-day tournament, is expected to attract more than 50 of the country’s leading professional golfers.
Among those expected to compete are Samuel Njoroge, Njoroge Kibugu, Mutahi Kibugu, Greg Snow, Mohit Mediratta, Dismas Indiza, David Wahu, Daniel Nduva, and Edwin Mudanyi, among others.
Speaking ahead of the fifth leg, Safaricom-sponsored golfer Mutahi Kibugu expressed his excitement to compete at Ruiru, noting that the PGK Equator Tour has been instrumental in his development and that of other local professionals.
“I am looking forward to competing at Ruiru and building on the progress I have made over the last four legs. This tour means a lot to me, not only as a young golfer but also for other local professionals.
“The competition is always intense, and it is difficult to predict who will come out on top. My focus is to remain consistent and put myself in a strong position throughout the week,” said Mutahi Kibugu.

PGK Equator Tour Leaders Eye Crucial Points in Ruiru
The fifth leg comes barely a week after the PGK Equator Tour’s fourth round at Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa, where Njoroge Kibugu claimed victory with an impressive performance.
As the Tour heads to Ruiru, Thika Golf Club’s Samuel Njoroge, one of Safaricom’s four sponsored golfers, continues to lead the Order of Merit standings with 2,377 points, thanks to a string of consistent performances across the opening four legs.
In addition, he is followed closely by Kakamega’s Dismas Indiza, who sits second with 1,890 points, while Greg Snow occupies third place with 1,720 points.
With the tour gathering momentum, Njoroge will be looking to extend his lead as his closest challengers seek to close the gap.

Organised by the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK), the tour provides the country’s top professionals with a competitive platform to showcase their talent.
Over the course of the season, they compete in a circuit played across various golf courses nationwide.
The tour also continues to receive support from corporate partners, including Safaricom, whose ongoing investment is helping to grow professional golf in Kenya.
As a result, local professionals have more opportunities to compete at the highest level, while the game continues to grow across Kenya.
